Course Description:

This course will start with poetry.  Students will study different forms within the genre and spend much time analyzing literary devices.  After that, the course will move to a study of drama.  The play will connect with some historical information students are learning in World History.  Students will then study short stories and essays.  They will read and write both, sharing their writing by reading to their class.  Finally, they will read more short stories on their own and write a short research paper.  ALL four marking periods will also include Accelerated Reader requirements (20 points per marking period).
