– January 20th, 2016 16
members attended the meeting which began at 7pm at Grace Lutheran Church in
Shamokin. Susan
Kropinski Hass ’75 asked for a moment of silence for a longtime supporter and
donor to the Alumni Association – Albert T. Fecko ’36 - who recent passed away
on January 19, 2016. President
Todd Nye ’89 called the meeting to order at 7pm. PRINCIPAL’S REPORT: Nothing
to report. Chris Venna usually attends
later in the year. Note – received email
from Chris on 1/28 stating “We have scheduled the Alumni Exam for 8 am on
Tuesday, April 5 (at the HS).” SECRETARY REPORT: Minutes
from the October 7th, 2015 meeting is available on the Web. Susan Kropinski Hass ’75 made a motion to
accept and John Klinger ’68 seconded the motion. All were in favor. TREASURER’S REPORT: Treasurer
Gregory Dwulet ’68 is working on details for the year 2015, which will be
included in the spring newsletter. Greg
also reported that two tax returns need
completed. This task could be kept
internally utilizing his resources or farmed out. Greg to provide an update at the April
meeting. COMMUNICATIONS: Nothing
to report. COMMITTEE REPORTS: After Glow: Irvin Liachowitz ’42 reported that the Vic
Boris Trio is scheduled to provide entertainment for the afterglow portion of
the Alumni Banquet on May 28th, 2016. Auditing: Audit by Jacob Schneider CPA has been done in
the past. Jacob will be moving, where we
will need to secure services from another provider. Awards: Details of the awards are found in the newsletter
and on the web site. Sandy Dilliplane
Rossnock ’92 is on the awards committee, but was unavailable for this
meeting. Sandy works at the school. Being at that location, she can help
coordinate the year end activity needed for award processing. Based upon minutes from the October 7th,
2015 meeting, Sandy was to review the web site for accuracy (number of awards
and details). Banquet: John Klinger ’68 reports the banquet for
Saturday May 28th 2016 will be at Masser’s Banquet Hall, Paxinos, PA. Menu options will be the same as last year –
roast turkey, roast beef, etc. See page
3 of the newsletter from April 2015 (located on the web) for details. By-Laws: Secretary has the Resolution approved and
adopted the 7th day of October, 2015 on file with the minutes. Class Representatives: Jeff Clutcher ’78 reported several
updates. Class reps for ’65 (Jeanne Derk
Shaffer) and ‘05 (Devin Yeager) resigned. ’47 Shirley Edwards Hughes was removed (passed away). Education Fund: Susan Kropinski Hass ’75 reported the final
amount and awards have not been finalized. Since the Newsletter may go to publication prior to the final
information being available, it was suggest a tentative list be prepared for
the newsletter. Note – John Clutcher ’74
sent Patty Olaf (from Keystone) this generic message – to be used if needed -
on January 23rd. Entertainment: Nothing to report at this time. Hopefully Irvin Liachowitz ’42 and Maxine
Howerter Harvey ’83 will be able to give an update at the April meeting if any
high school students will be used for entertainment. Invitations: Sandra Dilliplane Rossnock ’92 was
unavailable at the January meeting to give an update. Patty Olaf (Keystone) has been in touch with
our Treasurer and Registrar for updates. Patty is working from a guide we created last year on who provides what
for the Newsletter. Information will
need to be available from all parties by the end of January/beginning of
February for the publisher to start to pull together the newsletter. Contact Patty if you have questions
(polaf@keystoneexpressions.com). Memorabilia: Jeff Clutcher ’78 has nothing new to report. Nominations: A male vice president for the May 2016
banquet is needed. We are pleased to
report that Bruce Clutcher ’72 has agreed to accept the nomination. We rotate male/female officers. Programs: Nothing to report at this time. Publicity: Jamie Hoffman Bordell ’75 reported that she
listed tonight’s meeting several times - published in the Community Calendar on
Saturday January 16th, Tuesday January 19th and Wednesday January 20th. Website: John Clutcher ’74 provided an update on the
website and Facebook usage. Facebook
membership has increased from 60 at the October meeting to 67. Mary Jones Deibler ’71 found us on Facebook
and attended the meeting tonight. The
alumni association set up a stand at the October 23rd football game for
exposure, providing literature about how to get to the web site and information
available about the association. During
this event, they had a drawing for a Basket –won by Jill Nye. OLD BUSINESS: None
to report. NEW BUSINESS: Jeff
Clutcher ’78 reported that the class of 1975 (Lori Coller Foura ’75) has 90
mugs to sell and was wondering if the alumni association would be interested in
purchasing their stock (or partial purchase). Jeff to investigate. Note – later
in the week, Jeff purchased 20 mugs at $5 each to be used as door prizes at the
banquet. The
fall meeting is a dinner meeting (OK to attend just business meeting and not
dinner), with a group rate being collected to cover expenses. We are responsible for all reservation, even
those who are a no-show at the last minute. This has caused problems in the past where insufficient funds are
collected. Future fall meetings may
reserve a location, but will have individual checks – ordering on your own from
the menu. NEXT MEETING: Spring
Meeting - Wednesday April 20th, 2016 at Grace Lutheran Church –
Fellowship Hall downstairs. 7pm start
time. Motion
for adjournment was made by Irvin Liachowitz’ 42 and seconded by Joseph Bordell
’68 – and was approved. Meeting
