Attention Class of 2025
Dear Graduating Seniors and Parents / Guardians:
The Shamokin Area Class of 2025 is scheduled to graduate on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at 6:30 in the Middle / High School Auditorium. We hope that all of you will join the Shamokin Area staff to celebrate this important tradition. Graduation is one of life’s significant accomplishments. At Shamokin Area, our staff cares deeply about making this event a dignified ceremony to honor our students. With this in mind, we offer some guidelines for graduation.
Each senior must arrive at the Middle / High School Gymnasium by 5:30. Only the graduates will assemble in the Gymnasium before the graduation ceremony. Students must meet all graduation requirements and have no outstanding fines in order to participate in the graduation ceremony (no exceptions). Caps and gowns are required for all graduates marching. The cost of caps and gowns this year is $45. Female graduates are required to wear a dress or skirt, the length of which should not be longer than the gown, or dress slacks, white or off-white solid colored top, and dress shoes. Sneakers and flip-flops are not permitted. Male graduates are required to wear dress slacks, a shirt with a collar, tie, dark socks, and dress shoes. sneakers and flip-flops are not permitted. Families in need of assistance to meet the dress code requirements should contact the Principal's Office. Rehearsal is mandatory for any student marching in the ceremony. All student fees and fines must be paid in full prior to rehearsal because students with outstanding fees or fines will not march at graduation. Any student violating these expectations will be pulled from the line and not permitted to march, and his or her diploma will be removed from the stage.
The Auditorium will be open for guest seating at 5:10. All guests attending the graduation ceremony must present an admission ticket to be seated. Each senior will be provided approximately five (5) tickets which will be distributed to seniors at graduation rehearsal. Guests are expected to dress appropriately for the ceremony. Casual dress is acceptable.
Graduation is a formal event. Proper behavior is expected of all in attendance. It is important that appropriate and respectful attention be granted to the graduating seniors. Do not bring noise makers or other distracting items into the Auditorium. Guests will have the opportunity to recognize their special graduate at the conclusion of the diploma presentations. Security will be present to ensure compliance with guidelines for a safe and orderly graduation ceremony and are authorized to remove any disorderly or noncompliant guest.
We hope you will join us for this memorable celebration! If you have any questions, feel free to contact the Principal's Office at 570-648-5731.
Sincerely
