Find It Fast
Shamokin Area is looking to gather input regarding the impact of the pandemic on our students. Our District is asking parents/guardians to complete this brief survey to help our District better plan for services as we hopefully move beyond the pandemic.
Dear Shamokin Area School District Families:
Please read this update regarding the latest information on masking. As many of you may already know, earlier today, the Commonwealth Court issued a ruling deeming the DOH masking order to be unlawful. Although, the state plans to file an appeal of this ruling, the District will make masks OPTIONAL for students and staff effective tomorrow, Thursday, November 11, and until our School Board meets on Tuesday evening, November 16, at which time, the Board will review and possibly update our Health and Safety Plan. The District will continue to encourage mask wearing as it also can reduce the number of students placed on quarantine.
We continue to prioritize the health and safety of our students, families, faculty, and staff. And we are grateful for the support of our community. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us. Thank you.
Chris J. Venna
Shamokin Area School District reminds parents who have changed addresses, sitters, or day-care providers that their children will require a different bus stop than last year.
Those who have made changes over the summer months should notify the district’s transportation office as soon as possible. Changes not requested by August 11 will not take effect until after the school year starts.
Please stop by our Business Office to fill out a Change of Address Form, or simply access this form via the Shamokin Area School District website under Business Office; Documents and Forms; Parent Forms; Change of Address Form. Otherwise, call 570-648-5752 or send requests to “Shamokin Area School District, Transportation Office, 2000 West State Street, Coal Township, PA 17866”.

Vulnerability Assessment Team SurveysPlease take a few moments to complete one of the following Vulnerability Assessment Team surveys, a component of our Safety Committee. Please choose a survey based on your relationship with the school district. You may complete multiple surveys if they apply to you (for example, you are both a staff member AND a parent with children enrolled in the school district), but please only complete each survey once. Your perception of the safety in our buildings is very important to us. Any information received from these surveys will be shared with the Vulnerability Assessment Team and the Safety Committee during their meetings as they review building reports, identify the top five district safety issues, and develop recommendations for changes to the Comprehensive Safe School Plan. Thank you in advance for the consideration given to participating in these surveys.
