The Shamokin Area School District provides programming for students who are identified as gifted.  Mentally gifted is defined as outstanding and creative ability of development which requires specially designed programs or support services, or both, not ordinarily provided in the regular education program.  Any parent who believes their child may be in need of testing or gifted learning services should contact their child's teacher, guidance counselor, or building principal.  These professionals can explain our gifted education programs and testing procedures or guide you to the appropriate regional or state contact for assistance.
