Chapter 9: Quadratic Functions and Equations - SKIPPED (not on Keystone Algebra I exam)

Class Participation: Students are expected to:
v Arrive to class on-time
v Come prepared with pencils, notebooks, textbooks, and agenda
v Participate in classroom activities
50 points will be given to start each marking period. Points will be deducted as the above expectations are not fulfilled.
Homework: Homework assignments will be given with each section of the book. Some sections may last one day, while others will last several. Each homework assignment is worth 5 points. Students will earn the 5 points for completing the assignment.
Quizzes: Short (8-10 questions) quizzes will be given at the conclusion of each section following the review of the homework assignment. Each problem is worth 1 or 2 points.
Tests: Tests will be given after every few sections, dividing each chapter into several tests. Each problem is worth 3 to 5 points.
Final Grade: The final grade is determined by adding up all points earned in the above areas plus extra credit and divided by the total possible points possible.
Keystone Exam: Every student currently enrolled in Algebra I will take the Keystone Exam in May (also in December, if the student has taken the Exam before). The goal of the course is to prepare students to reach proficiency on the Keystone Exam. There will be significant amount of time spent reviewing and preparing for the Keystone Exam prior to the administering of the test.
