Important Classroom Information
Snack:
We will have a 15-minute snack break everyday, except Act 80 Days. Please provide a simple snack (granola bar, fruit snacks, etc.) and/or drink each day. Soda and candy are not permitted.Homework:
Homework is an important part of your child’s education. It reinforces concepts taught in school that day. Every child is expected to complete his/her homework and return it to school the next day. Reading, Spelling, and Math homework will typically be assigned daily. There will be no homework on Fridays. All homework assignments will be written in the student’s planner and placed in their folders. The daily news folder, behavior calendar, and planner will be included in the binder that is provided. You are asked to sign/initial the planner daily. This is simply to let me know that you’ve seen it. Also, any communication that we may have can be written in the planner.**Please check folders daily. Papers will go home on a regular basis, including forms that need to be signeBehavior Plan:The elementary school will continue to use the school-wide totem pole behavior plan. There will be a monthly calendar placed in your child’s folder that will need to be initialed daily. This program is based on a colored system. The students start on green everyday. If they are caught doing something special, they will move up to blue. If there are behavior issues, students can move down to yellow, orange, or red. If they achieve green or blue at the end of the day, they will earn tickets to spend at our school store.Caftrac:If students receive a paid lunch, please send in any Caftrac money in an envelope with your child’s name, my name, and the amount enclosedlisted on the envelope. I will send the money to the cafeteria that morning.Absences:Please provide a written excuse each time your child is absent from school. Include your child’s name, my name, date of absence, and reason for absence on each excuse. Students who do not provide an excuse will be marked unexcused. You have up to three days after the absence to provide an excuse, after those three days, it is considered unexcused. Also, if your child is late arriving to school, you must sign him/her in at the Elementary Office. Tardiness starts after 8:15 a.m.
