Three accounts. One clear role for each.

Pearson Observer

SPEAR coursework and grades
Watch the official Pearson Observer overviewSee how a family member moves through the Observer view.Watch video

Use Pearson Observer to review your student’s assigned coursework, progress, gradebook, and teacher feedback. The official Pearson help video walks families through the Observer view.

Your Observer account is set up by SPEAR and linked to your student. If you cannot see your student or a course, contact the SPEAR team. Interface details may change, so use the current Pearson guide for step-by-step directions.

NotificationsBuzz account emails about coursework and account activity, based on the notification preferences in your account.

ParentSquare

School communication

Use ParentSquare for district and SPEAR messages, alerts, posts, forms, and two-way communication. ParentSquare can translate communication into your preferred language.

Your email address or mobile number must match the contact information in district records. ParentSquare is for communication; Pearson Observer remains the place to review coursework and grades.

NotificationsDirect messages, weekly updates, and automatic notices by app, text, or email, according to your ParentSquare settings.

ParentVUE

District student records
ParentVUE district guideActivation, records, attendance, and password helpOpen the visual guide

Use ParentVUE for official district student records and attendance information when it is posted. ParentVUE is separate from Pearson Connexus and does not replace the Pearson course gradebook.

Guardian activation uses the district process and information connected to your student. The local guide is featured here because generic ParentVUE videos may show options that Shamokin Area does not use.

NotificationsAttendance and school-record updates when those notices are enabled for your account by the district.

Local support

Choose the help the student needs.

Local support has two sides: a place to build a productive school day and focused tutoring when coursework needs extra attention. Select either route to see how it works.
